This afternoon, Voices for Children Economic Stability and Health Coordinator Aubrey Mancuso testified in support of LB 493, which would provide paid sick time for all Nebraska workers.
Last week on our blog, we examined why every worker in Nebraska needs paid sick time. Providing workers paid sick time goes beyond the general principle that we should not be forcing Nebraskans to choose between their health and financial security; it also has tremendous benefits for the state as a whole. Providing paid sick time makes workers more productive, reduces overall emergency room visits, and keeps more people healthy by reducing the amount of sick employees who show up to work and risk infecting their coworkers and customers.
