LB 1098: Restore Sales Tax Revenue to General Fund

As introduced:  This bill would repeal changes enacted in 2011 and set to go into effect in 2013 that allocates a quarter of a cent on every dollar of sales tax revenue for roads projects.

Introducing Senator(s): Council

Committee: Revenue Committee

Committee Hearing Date: February 16, 2012

Current Status: Indefinitely Postponed.

Estimated Fiscal Impact:  This would result in an estimated increase in revenue to the General Fund of $63,570,000 in FY13-14 and $72,454,000 in FY14-15.

Voices for Children Position:  Support

Voices for Children supported this bill because of concerns that the loss of revenue in the General Fund, which funds a significant portion of children’s services, will result in a shortfall of available funds for children’s services.
