Juvenile Detention: The Data

Voices for Children believes that we must assure that all our children can grow into health and productive adults, sometimes this means we must hold youth accountable for their actions. When this is necessary, we need to do so in ways that are appropriate for the child while simultaneously promoting community safety. These beliefs are at the forefront of our organizational decision-making process when preparing for legislative session. This week the legislature has multiple juvenile justice bills up for hearing in committee, so that means it is a busy week for Voices. In addition to our beliefs, we also look at the data, which paints us a picture of the current state of children in Nebraska and pinpoints any problems that must be addressed.
