In response to some breaking news on the change in leadership at the Foster Care Review Board, Voices for Children’s Carolyn Rooker issued this statement.
From Carolyn Rooker, Executive Director of Voices for Children in Nebraska:
“Carol Stitt has been a passionate advocate for Nebraska’s kids for nearly 30 years. Under her leadership, the Foster Care Review Board has consistently sought to know, document, and understand the plight of children in foster care and keep the Department of Health and Human Services accountable for its actions.
While we do not know the details of reasons for this decision of the Board of Directors of the Foster Care Review Board, we do know that the loss of Carol’s institutional memory will impact the FCRB and the children it watches during this session of children. We wish Carol the best of luck in whatever she pursues next.
We are excited that Kathy Bigsby Moore may take the reins of the FCRB in the interim. As the founder and former Executive Director of Voices for Children in Nebraska, we she will be a capable leader for the FCRB and we look forward to working with Kathy in reforming our child welfare system.”
