We’re Only One Month Away from the 2015 Spotlight Gala!

All children deserve the opportunity to grow into happy and healthy adults, and over the past year, our policy victories have been creating these opportunities for greater numbers of Nebraska’s kids while making Nebraska a better place to live and raise a family.

Much of our success in advocating for the changes that ensure all children can lead healthy and fulfilling lives is rooted in our independence and data-driven nature.  In our effort to be a truly non-partisan and unbiased voice that is necessary to properly advocate for Nebraska’s kids, we take no state or federal dollars– our work as the independent voice for Nebraska’s children is made possible because of our passionate supporters.

That’s why I’m excited to announce that we are a about a month away from this year’s Spotlight Gala, Benefiting Voices for Children!  Each year we hold our Spotlight Gala to shine a light on individuals and organizations that are making a difference for Nebraska’s children, while supporting our work in creating systemic change.

This year’s Spotlight Gala is being held Saturday, September 19 at the Embassy Suites La Vista.  As our only large fundraising night of the year, by attending Gala, you can play a large role in our continuing independence, and help us tell the whole story of Nebraska’s kids.

On top of that, you can help us shine light on those making a lasting impact on our community! This year’s honorary family is David and Lori Scott. We’ll also be honoring the work of the following organizations and individuals who are finding unique ways to reach out and serve all our children in Nebraska:

–          Individual Award – Liz Hruska

–          Non-profit Award – Project Harmony

–          Youth Award – Circle C Market

–          Champion for Children Award – Senator Jeremy Nordquist

In addition to the awards, the Spotlight Gala is a fun night filled with a hosted cocktail hour, dinner, silent and live auctions, and our 2015 student art project, “Cups for Kids”!

Last year, more than 700 of you helped commemorate our Spotlight Gala, and because of the continued support of great volunteers, donors, and sponsors, our 2015 Gala looks to build upon our past success.

Awareness, action, and change do not happen by accident. Your support and action are what make our policy victories possible for the next generation of Nebraska’s children. I hope all of you can join us for this fun evening of celebrating the work being done across our state to help Nebraska’s kids.
