2014 Spotlight Gala – Honorary Family

For the past 9 years, Voices for Children in Nebraska has been fortunate to connect with amazing families serving in the role of  Spotlight Gala – Honorary Family. We choose these families based on their dedication to improving the lives of children and their commitment to the power of community giving. This year, we are thrilled to honor Mr. Steve Martin and Dr. Amy Haddad as our Honorary Family.

Steve Martin is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska (BSBSNE), is a member of the board of directors and is on the company’s executive management team. Before joining BCBSNE, Martin was the founding President, CEO and a board director for Prime Therapeutics Inc., a comprehensive pharmacy benefits solutions company.

Martin is active in community service and currently serves on the boards of the Children’s Scholarship Fund, Knights of Aksarben, Lauritzen Gardens, NEBRASKAland Foundation, USSTRATCOM Command Consultation Committee, the Durham Museum and the State Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Martin earned a bachelor’s degree from Washburn University and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Nebraska. He is a certified professional in the Academy of Health Care Management and a National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Board Leadership Fellow.

Dr. Amy Haddad is the Director for the Center for Health Policy and Ethics and the Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Endowed Chair in the Health Sciences at Creighton University. She became involved in education in the health sciences at the College of Saint Mary in the nursing program, then moved on to Creighton in 1984 where she has since taught ethics in the health sciences. She led the effort to establish the Master of Science in Health Care Ethics program in 2009.

Dr. Haddad has received numerous honors including the 2007 Pellegrino Medal presented by the Healthcare Ethics and Law Institute at Samford University and the 2003 Robert K. Chalmers Distinguished Pharmacy Educator Award by the American Association of Colleges and Pharmacy. Dr. Haddad is also active in community service and currently serves on numerous community social service, arts and education boards.

Through their academic work and community involvement, Martin and Haddad have been enormous assets to their community and their state. At Voices for Children, we want to thank them for the tremendous generosity they have shown in improving the lives of Nebraska children.

It is truly our honor to recognize Mr. Steve Martin and Dr. Amy Haddad and we are proud to have them as our 2014 Spotlight Gala Honorary Family.
