Everyone gets sick — especially young children. No parent should have to worry about losing their job for taking time off to care for their sick children or to bring their child to the doctor. The ability to earn time off for an illness supports the health of kids and families, and it’s also good public health policy to prevent the spread of contagious illnesses.

The Nebraska Legislature will consider a bill that will allow workers to earn one hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours worked. LB 305 is on the agenda and will likely be debated by senators soon. Research shows that parents who don’t have access to paid sick time are more likely to delay a doctor’s visit for their sick child, and to send their sick children to school or daycare where they will go on to spread the illness.

Contact your senator TODAY and ask them to support healthy kids and families and vote YES on LB 305.
