Today the Nebraska Legislature will hear testimony on LB 701, a bill that will continue to allow ADC recipients to attend vocational training as part of the work requirement of the program. Voices for Children believes that policies should support families in trying to build a better future and that systems should ensure that children’s basic needs are met.
Nebraska’s Aid to Dependent Children (ADC) is our cash assistance program providing support to very low-income families with children who struggle to pay for their basic needs. Families on ADC are required to participate in the Employment First program that provides training, education, work experience and employment related activities. For many families, ADC payments are their only form of income. Take a look at the data below and ask your senator to support LB 701 allowing Nebraska’s families in extreme need to attend vocational school and training to further their path on the road to economic self-sufficiency.
