2015 Kids Count is on its way!

We have been busy this Fall compiling data and putting together this year’s Kids Count in Nebraska Report – our biggest and best yet! This year’s book contains data in each of our 5 issues areas: health, education, child welfare, juvenile justice and economic stability as well as population level demographics and county-based indicators.

New this year, we are unveiling our Index of Race and Opportunity for Nebraska children in our commentary – Equality Before the Law, the first of it’s kind in Nebraska looking at the impact of a child’s race on their pathway to lifetime opportunity and providing a comparison score factoring in 13 indicators. Also, for the first time ever, county-level data will be accessible in our Kids Count NEteractive online tool allowing you to quickly find data at the county level without scrolling through pages and tables.

We are releasing this year’s Kids Count on January 12th at the capital with an open public release event the next day in Omaha. Copies of the report will be available for pick up starting January 12th at the Voices for Children office, or at the capital room 1023 from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm on January 12th.

Every year in addition to our public release events, we go out across the state and share our Kids Count presentation and publication to community groups and organizations. If you would like your group to receive a Kids Count presentation this year, contact Chrissy at kidscount@voicesforchildren.com.

Register to attend our Omaha Public Release on January 13th by Friday, January 8th

Can’t make the release? Request copies of the book to be sent to you or held at the Voices office for you to pick up:

Thank you to taking the time to share!
