In 2010, almost 1,600 low-income women lost access to prenatal care coverage under Medicaid. We urge the Legislature to pass LB 599 — a bill to restore this coverage — this year.

To not invest in babies and children is atrocious and simply perpertuates our lack of human capital care and our inability to enhance education levels. To think that we would not care for innocent babies who cannot care for themselves is as unjust as it gets. I don’t know the statistics on this, but I would venture to bet we, as a society, spend more on pet care than we do on infant care. Where are our priorities?
