After experiencing firsthand some of the gaps in Nebraska legislation and working with the Voices for Children team on them, I am ecstatic to begin a position in their office. Over the course of my three years at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, I have enjoyed the privilege of working with a diverse set of nonprofits across Omaha. Within UNO’s Office of Civic and Social responsibility, I interned for Special Olympics and No More Empty Pots. After interning, I was hired by No More Empty Pots as the Program Assistant to the Community Market Basket. In my junior year, I served as a student mentor for the United States State Department program, Young South East Asian Student Leaders Initiative. Now, I have the pleasure and privilege of joining the Voices for Children staff.

As a Policy Intern for the 2018 legislative session, I’m most excited for the firsthand experience in legislative advocacy. After I graduate with dual majors in English and International Studies with concentrations in American Literature and Global Strategic Studies, I hope to earn a legal degree and take part in legislative advocacy on the federal level. My time here at Voices for Children will help me gain valuable skills and experience in this line of work!

It’s a wonderful and inspiring experience to work and interact with so many smart, powerful women. Their example will help lead me to success with my own ambitions.
